Muted Blast – Piano recital by Jana Luksts

Contemporary Music Lab presents a piano recital by Jana Luksts performing works by Katehis, Seglias, Maronidis and Spyrou. The presented works cover a wide range of styles and trends in the field of modern musical creation. An extremely high-level virtuosity is required from the pianist to perform them, as a huge amount of audio data should be streamed to the audience in a relatively short time. The concert takes place with the support of the Fulbright Foundation and the Delian Academy of New Music

Jana Luksts is a pianist fiercely dedicated to the performance of contemporary classical music. A proponent of esoteric idioms for piano, Jana finds purpose in realizing new works for the instrument. Jana’s 2017-18 season has featured a series of solo concerts, presenting the works of Aperghis, Spyrou, Erber and Finnissy, with venues including Ypsilon (Thessaloniki, presented by Ypsilon) and St. Andrew’s Church (Toronto, presented by TO.U Collective for New Music). In June of 2018, she will be the guest artist at the Delian Academy for New Music in Mykonos, Greece. Jana will be featured as a solo and chamber artist at the Sound Symposium in Newfoundland in July of 2018. Other upcoming engagements include a series of concerts in collaboration with the Contemporary Music Lab at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AuTh.) featuring works of past and current students, and alumni of the Greek Fulbright Program.

[english text follows]

Contemporary Music Lab presents a guest lecture by Antonis Anissegos, composer and performer, on “The multidimensional relationship between composer and performer“.

Dialogues Secrets – Piano Recital

Christian Winther Christensen: Preludes for Piano and Max/MSP -13’

2. Prelude VIII, in Eb Minor
3. Prelude XI, in E minor – A’ εκτέλεση

Jana Luksts – Piano Mechanics

[english text follows]

Πρόσφατα, παρουσίασε έργα του Michael Finnissy, του James Erber και του Georges Aperghis στο TO.U Collective for New Music στο Τορόντο του Καναδά. Οι επερχόμενες εμφανίσεις της περιλαμβάνουν τη συμμετοχή της ως προσκεκλημένη καλλιτέχνης στην Delian Academy for New Music (Μύκονος, Ιούνιος 2018) και ως καλλιτέχνης στο Symposium Sound στο Newfoundland, CA. Pavlos Antoniadis – Interactive systems for the embodied navigation of complex piano notation

“I will explore the relation between complexity and embodiment in contemporary piano music along three axes: intrinsic textual complexity, complexity as interaction with the electronic medium and finally complexity as generative of a sort of physical theatre. Tzortzis’ Incompatible(s) V will be highlighted as the juncture of those three axes. Continue reading

[greek text follows]

CML A.U.Th. in colaboration with dissonArt ensemble presents an open rehearsal of Jani Christou’s works Anaparastasis III (The Pianist) and The Strychnine Lady.

Friday June 17th 14:30 – 17:30 Foyer – A.U.Th – Music Department (Thermi)

Jani Christou composed his legendary works Anaparastasis III and The Strychnine Lady between 1967 and 1968. In these works, new and innovative forms of expression are explored. The pieces, scored for ensemble and soloists, transform the roles and functionality of musicians and soloists. Using his own pioneering notation, Christou is extending and at the same time blurring the borders between music and theater.

The event will start with a short talk by the conductor Vladimiros Symeonidis and dissonArt member Theodoros Patsalidis introduced by the composer Zesses Seglias.

After the end of the rehearsal there will be an open discussion.

Anaparastasis III along with The Strychnine Lady will be staged at the GNO Alternative Stage of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in 25 June, under the direction of Alexandros Efklidis. [read more here] Continue reading
