Muted Blast – Piano recital by Jana Luksts

Contemporary Music Lab presents a piano recital by Jana Luksts performing works by Katehis, Seglias, Maronidis and Spyrou. The presented works cover a wide range of styles and trends in the field of modern musical creation. An extremely high-level virtuosity is required from the pianist to perform them, as a huge amount of audio data should be streamed to the audience in a relatively short time. The concert takes place with the support of the Fulbright Foundation and the Delian Academy of New Music

Jana Luksts is a pianist fiercely dedicated to the performance of contemporary classical music. A proponent of esoteric idioms for piano, Jana finds purpose in realizing new works for the instrument. Jana’s 2017-18 season has featured a series of solo concerts, presenting the works of Aperghis, Spyrou, Erber and Finnissy, with venues including Ypsilon (Thessaloniki, presented by Ypsilon) and St. Andrew’s Church (Toronto, presented by TO.U Collective for New Music). In June of 2018, she will be the guest artist at the Delian Academy for New Music in Mykonos, Greece. Jana will be featured as a solo and chamber artist at the Sound Symposium in Newfoundland in July of 2018. Other upcoming engagements include a series of concerts in collaboration with the Contemporary Music Lab at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AuTh.) featuring works of past and current students, and alumni of the Greek Fulbright Program.
