Η πιανίστρια Jana Luksts παρουσιάζει μια συζήτηση σχετικά με τις τρέχουσες τεχνικές εκτέλεσης του πιάνου. Με τον εκτεταμένο ρόλο του οργάνου κατά τα τελευταία εκατό χρόνια ως όχημα για το σχεδιασμό και τον πειραματισμό διευρυμένων (βοηθητικών) τεχνικών καθώς και για την ανάπτυξη “παραδοσιακών” τεχνικών, η λειτουργία του πιάνου στο πλαίσιο της σύνθεσης του 21ου αιώνα τίθεται υπό αμφισβήτηση. Πώς μπορούν οι πρόσφατες και οι πειραματικές τεχνικές να αναπτυχθούν και να διευρυνθούν διεξοδικά για να δημιουργήσουν σημαντικές συνθέσεις; Αυτή η παρουσίαση αποτελεί μία ανοιχτή πρόσκληση για συζήτηση και ανταλλαγή ιδεών σχετικών με αυτό το ζήτημα. Θέματα που πρέπει να καλυφθούν είναι οι σύγχρονες καινοτόμες συνθέσεις για το πιάνο, η (προσεκτική) ενσωμάτωση των στοιχείων πολυμέσων και ο συζητήσιμος ρόλος του οργάνου μέσα στην κλασσική μορφή συναυλιών ως μόνιμο αντικείμενο σε μια αίθουσα συναυλιών. Κατά τη διάρκεια των προσεχών μηνών οι συνθέτες καλούνται να συνθέσουν έργα για πιάνο που σχετίζονται με το περιεχόμενο αυτής της συζήτησης. Τα έργα αυτά θα παιχτούν δημόσια σε μία συναυλία της Jana Luktsts τον Μάιο / Ιούνιο.

Η Jana Luksts είναι μία πιανίστρια έντονα αφοσιωμένη στην εκτέλεση της σύγχρονης κλασικής μουσικής. Μία θερμή υποστηρίκτρια των ενδότερων ιδιωματισμών του πιάνου, η Jana έχει ως κύριο σκοπό την εκτέλεση νέων έργων για το όργανο. Πρόσφατα, παρουσίασε έργα του Michael Finnissy, του James Erber και του Georges Aperghis στο TO.U Collective for New Music στο Τορόντο του Καναδά. Η Jana έχει παρουσιάσει στο Φεστιβάλ Musikain Aika (Φινλανδία), Internationale Fereinkurse für Neue Musik (Γερμανία) και έχει συμπράξει με τη Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα της Ραδιοφωνίας της Φρανκφούρτης (hr-Sinfonieorchester) παίζοντας το “Firecycle Beta” του Brian Ferneyhough. Οι επερχόμενες εμφανίσεις της περιλαμβάνουν τη συμμετοχή της ως προσκεκλημένη καλλιτέχνης στην Delian Academy for New Music (Μύκονος, Ιούνιος 2018) και ως καλλιτέχνης στο Symposium Sound στο Newfoundland, CA.

Jana Luksts (pianist) presents an immersive discussion on current and prospective performative techniques for piano. With the instrument’s extensive role in the past one hundred years as a vehicle for the design and experimentation of extended (ancillary) techniques as well as the development of “traditional” techniques and playing, the function of the instrument in the context of 21st century composition is brought into question. How can recent and experimental techniques be thoroughly developed and expanded upon to realize meaningful compositions? This presentation is an open invitation to discuss and exchange ideas relating to this issue. Themes to be covered are current innovative compositions for piano, the (careful) integration of multimedia elements, and the questionable role of the instrument within the classical concert format and as a stationary fixture in the recital hall. Composers are called upon to write compositions for piano over the next few months addressing the content of this discussion, to be performed by Jana in May/June.

Jana Luksts is a pianist fiercely dedicated to the performance of contemporary classical music. A proponent of esoteric idioms for piano, Jana finds purpose in realizing new works for the instrument. Most recently, she performed the works of Michael Finnissy, James Erber and Georges Aperghis presented by the TO.U Collective for New Music in Toronto, CA. Jana has performed at the Musikiin Aika Festival (Finland), Internationale Fereinkurse für Neue Musik (Germany) and has performed alongside the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (hr-Sinfonieorchester), featuring Brian Ferneyhough’s rarely performed “Firecycle Beta”. Upcoming engagements include Jana’s role as guest artist at the Delian Academy for New Music and as a guest artist at the Sound Symposium in Newfoundland, CA.
