Composer Collider Europe

Contemporary Music Lab is a partner in the European Project “Composer Colider Europe”.

The Composer Collider programme is based on the scholarly exchange between the young composers, the musicians and the professor on the new composition. First the participating universities each select four young composers, who will then start to work on a new composition. An initial get-together with musical consultations is meant as an opportunity to get acquainted with each other, exchange first ideas and try out the Spielbar format. In 58 workshop-rehearsals and 6 concerts the compositions are developed and presented, while 10 public Spielbar workshops engage audiences.

The outstanding qualities of the participating universities and its professors as educational institutions guarantee that the composers chosen for participation have the best possible preconditions to make the most of the cooperation with first class professional musicians. The composers will profit not only from the work with their renowned professors, but get the practical and aesthetic feedback from musicians whose daily mission is to give life to contemporary composition.

The universities choose the participating composers; in consultations and joint workshops with the professional musicians of Ensemble Musikfabrik they get artistic and technical input, which they then implement in the compositions for the project, and experience the results in workshop rehearsals and concerts. The educational qualities of the universities and the practical and aesthetic experience of Ensemble Musikfabrik supplement each other.
